Abstract
Objectives: This study focuses on what connections, if any, NGOs have made with financial inclusion, basic health awareness, and climate change resilience over time in Bangladesh. What are the contributions of NGOs to the design, implementation, and attainment of financial inclusion, basic health awareness, and climate change resilience? In what manner does this contribution correspond with the achievement of the SDGs?
Materials and Methods: This study used self-administered, structured, and closed-ended questionnaires. Three sections comprise the survey questionnaires: Financial Inclusion (FI), Basic Health Awareness (BHA), and Climate Change Resilience (CCR). This study reached out to 406 respondents, all of whom are active members of diverse NGOs We conducted the investigation using Smart PLS version 4.1.0.0.
Findings: The study's findings indicate that the preamble of the agreement extensively acknowledges the influence of NGOs on financial inclusion towards SDGs. Financial inclusion encompasses gender considerations, access to financial services for small and medium-sized enterprises, financing disparities, financial literacy, responsible finance, policy and regulation, universal access to formal financial services, strategies for financial inclusion, consumer protection, mobile banking, and digital payments. Furthermore, NGOs endeavor to enhance knowledge about fundamental health, therefore fostering healthy behaviors and general well-being, and positively influencing the accomplishment of SDGs. Additionally, the study revealed that NGOs had a beneficial impact on climate change resistance. Finally, the nation's NGOs significantly contributed to the attainment of the SDGs.
Implication: The survey participants strongly believed that NGOs should more broadly engage in financial inclusion, basic health awareness, and climate change resilience, as these factors have been positively impacted by NGOs' activities towards SDGs. Furthermore, without active participation from NGOs, efforts to achieve financial inclusion, raise basic health awareness, and enhance climate change resilience in Bangladesh would most likely fail to properly address social and environmental responsibility issues necessary for the timely accomplishment of the SDGs.
Originality: There is a debate over the roles of NGOs in promoting financial inclusion, basic health awareness, and climate change resilience in Bangladesh. This study identified the statistically positive association of NGOs in promoting financial inclusion, basic health awareness, and climate change resilience towards the SDGs in Bangladesh.
