Abstract

This paper examines the current status of the Electronic Patient Appointment Booking Portal (EPABP) at King Abdulaziz University Medical Centre (KAUMC) and proposes targeted enhancements to improve the system's effectiveness. The study employs a quantitative data collection approach; analyses include regression equations and the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) to investigate user behavior [1, 2] and attitudes toward the portal. Building on these findings, intelligent algorithms and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions are proposed to refine the appointment scheduling process, reduce no-show rates, and improve system interfaces. The results indicate that user satisfaction and ease of use are the primary determinants of further system adoption. The proposed enhancements are discussed alongside a pilot implementation, which demonstrates improved patient satisfaction and more efficient use of healthcare resources. The key contribution of this study lies in integrating AI-driven scheduling with a user-centered interface redesign to address documented deficiencies in the existing EPABP at KAUMC, providing a replicable framework for similar healthcare institutions.
