Abstract
This research falls within the context of establishing a value system that governs and directs commercial behavior in an era where economic actions are driven by the hegemony of profit and wealth, and are detached from ethical oversight, leading to the spread of negative values in the markets that were previously uncommon to the public. The research aims to shed light on economic values from an Islamic perspective and their ability to guide commercial behavior. The research also seeks to bridge the gap between the operational environment of commercial behavior and the theoretical framework of these values from the perspective of Islamic economics. This will be achieved by revealing some of the features and aspects of this connection through selected applications from the Andalusian heritage of Nawazil (contemporary issues) during the Taifa and Almoravid periods. Given that Nawazil are commercial incidents that Islamic jurists subjected to rigorous scrutiny in formulating their responses, Islamic jurisprudence engaged in a dynamic interplay with economic reality, revealing the deep-rooted ethical values that Sharia imbues into the rulings of financial transactions. The research addresses its problem through three elements. The first element focuses on clarifying the key concepts of the research, while the second element discusses the foundation of three key economic values in Sharia (justice, freedom, and prosperity), and the third element connects the overarching value to its organizing values through providing practical examples of respecting these values through legal heritage and employing a deductive, inductive, and analytical approach. The research concludes that the rulings on financial transactions have ethical value extensions that Sharia intended to guide and protect commercial behavior. It also concludes that subjecting them to the scrutiny of economic values from an Islamic perspective is capable of liberating economic activity from the hegemony of profit and wealth.
