Abstract

The current study aims to examine the grammatical errors among high school students — in the tracks system — in Jeddah. It attempts to answer the main question: What are the most frequent grammatical errors among high school students — in the tracks system — in Jeddah's schools? The study took a sample of student writings, collected and corrected them, identified errors and their frequency in each track, then classified them. The results showed that the general track recorded the highest percentage of errors in a number of areas including: letter writing with an error rate of 57%, classified as (not passing), then writing of genitives with an error rate of 50%, classified as (weak), then in verbs with an error rate of 48.7%, classified as (weak), then writing numbers with an error rate of 48.1%, classified as (weak). Meanwhile, the Health and Life track recorded the highest percentage of errors in writing of grammatical units that take nominative case markers at 45.5%, classified as (weak), and the Computer and Engineering track recorded the highest percentage of errors in writing of grammatical units that take the accusative case markers at 39.4%, classified as (acceptable).

تهدف الدراسة إبراز الأخطاء النحوية لدى طلاب المرحلة الثانوية – نظام المسارات – في مدارس تعليم جدة، محاولةً الإجابة عن السؤال الرئيس: ما الأخطاء النحوية لدى طلاب المرحلة الثانوية – نظام المسارات – في مدارس تعليم جدة؟ قامت الدراسة بأخذ عينة من كتابات الطلاب، ثم جمعها وتصحيحها، وتحديد الخطأ وتكراره في كل مسارٍ، ثم تصنيفه. وأوضحت النتائج أن المسار العام سجل أعلى نسبة للأخطاء في عددٍ من الأبواب ومنها: كتابة الحرف إذ بلغت نسبة أخطائه 57%، مصنفًا (غير مجتاز)، ثم كتابة المجرورات إذ بلغت نسبة أخطائه 50%، مصنفًا (ضعيف)، ثم في الأفعال وبلغت نسبة أخطائه 48.7%، مصنفًا (ضعيف)، ثم كتابة العدد وبلغت نسبة أخطائه 48.1%، مصنفًا (ضعيف). بينما سجل مسار الصحة والحياة أعلى نسبة للأخطاء في باب كتابة المرفوعات بنسبة 45.5%، مصنفًا (ضعيف)، وسجل مسار الحاسب والهندسة أعلى نسبة للأخطاء في باب كتابة المنصوبات بنسبة 39.4%، مصنفًا (مقبول).
